A great salesman with a honest and winning attitude will always win in the long run.  Remember if you have a product malfunction, be honest and help them.  You don’t want to sell your customer once, you want to sell them multiple times.  So be honest…customers will always come back.  Also a thing that I do is do the unexpected…give them a credit for downtime or a credit on their invoice.  Be ahead of the curve…a lot of companies don’t do anything.

What I mean about the Winning Attitude is to be very positive in taking care of your customers and be honest.

Collecting Leads

Collecting Leads is one of the best way to be successful in Sales.  You don’t always sell your first initial stop with a new prospect.  You work them with a phone call, email and/or just dropping in on them.  The more times you touch a prospect the higher chance they will become a customer.  By using a couple tools…your CRM Software, your email collecting methods like Constant Contact and just your skills to communicate on the phone or in person.  I like i said before it does not happen over night…Hard work become a great salesman in the future.  Whatever you are selling you need to collect information about the prospect!!!!   I have done business with so many guys that switch construction companies that wherever they go I do business with them.  Collect the information and keep up with your prospects and customers at all times.

When talking to prospects and customers…you need to shut up and listen.  One of the number one problems is salesman does not listen on appointments…they do all the talking.  You need to ask questions that prospects will do all the talking.   Sit there and don’t talk.  Here is a great video “what not to do”!!!!

Become a Marketing Selling Champion Salesman….by just doing the little things with mailers, emails, direct mail, and promotion gift (i.e. pens with your logo).  Some times you have to do the unexpected for your customers.  Like give them a credit on their bill for returning your equipment early off of rent.  That just an example that I would do.

Marketing is a Trial and Error Process…you need to try what works in your industry.  I do video marketing, blogging, social media, direct mail to contractors, email marketing to the list of 10000 companies, promotion items (hats and pens), and much more.  Make it fun and challenging…you will enjoy it.

Salesman should be a Self Motivator

What I mean by that is that you need to motivate yourself to do your job.  You will get No, No, No and more.  But a great salesman will knock it off their shoulders and move to the next Yes.  You need to keep motivating yourself to success.  Listen to great Audio Books and/or podcasts.  Don’t give up…keep pushing forward for a yes.  If you are not having luck on the phone today then go outside for a walk or go in the field to go Door Knocking.  Sales is fun and challenging…Enjoy!!!!

Salesman Using Apps on Smart Phone

I use my Smart Phone everyday for the Apps to make me a more productive salesman. There are Application that you can scan a prospect business card and email you back to the office to store in your CRM Software. The Adobe Reader App, you can store important documents like Credit Application, Brochures and Specs of your products…email straight out of your smart phone when the customer ask at your appointment or on your way out of the appointment. So while the prospects are on the way back to their desk…the documents are in their email inbox. The YouTube App that you can video your products in HD and upload straight from your Smart Phone. All your Social Networks has Apps that you can access on your Smart Phone…Use the Technology!!! Another great App is the Voice Recorder app to give you reminders and record important messages. To do list Apps are a great way to be more productive and knock the things off your list.

Another Great Application is Google Drive, where you can store documents, pictures, videos, and much more. You can add this to your Desktop company at work, home and on Smart Phone….and them be able to share all the information on all the devices. It works Great!!!!

That just a couple great apps to my you a more productive salesman. There are 10s of 1000 much more.

Selling out of the Box

That is a phrase that I say…and I don’t mean a physical box.  I mean do something unusual for your prospects and customers.  Do something unexpected that no other salesman has done.  Give them a credit, a gift card and something rememberable  that stand you out from the rest.  Depending on what you sell….I helped ran an office supply company with a friend while selling cell phones, we use to give with all office supply orders a Rose to the office manager, majority were women.  They love it, and order more supplies.  We were one of the fastest independent office supply company that the supplier ever seen.  Remember do the unexpected…be Selling out of the Box.

Become an Email Marketing Salesman

I have use other email marketing programs and have not had success.  The one that I am using now is Constant Contact.  What I like about it…that it has the capabilities to share to all my Social Networks by the push of the button.  Plus it tracks the clicks in your email template.  If I was you I have them design your email template after your  website, so all the clicks in your email is track back track to your company website.  And what I mean by tracks, it comes with it own analytics.  To be successful with an email marketing plan you need to make it in engaging and inviting for the customers to contact you.  So try it out…you can’t lose.

You know when you have a feeling in your gut to do the right or don’t do the thing at all.  In sales, everybody likes to get the sale, but that feeling you get in your gut leading the customer in the wrong direction or your company.  STOP, THINK AND THEN REACT…..it works for me everyday in Sales.  Money is not everything…a customer will last longer coming back for more sales!!!!

So when your gut is talking to you LISTEN.

Having Fun at Your Sales Job

Making your day go by fast is having fun with your job.  Just like when you are tele marketing on the phone….when speaking to the prospects…Smile and Laugh it goes far on the phone for success in Sales.  Make Humor a must at your job…with clean great practical jokes.

Also to have fun with telemarketing is standing up and walking around in your place of business.  If you sit down always..you may sound a little down or sluggish…Get up and laugh and talk on the phone with customers and prospects.  You will see you have more success standing rather than sitting.  Make it fun!!!!!

Have contests with other sales reps…whoever sets the most appointments..get a gift card to their favorite restaurant or even a Gift Card from iTunes (of course they have to have an Apple product).  Again Make it Fun.

Have cold calling blitz…get a team of two salesman and go door knocking.  Again same concept as above with the gift cards.  Set appointments and get gift cards.  Make fun!!!
